The best available medical practice relays on the use of technological equipment supporting patients’ diagnosis and capable of monitoring their physiological functions. The development of these devices requires the participation of engineers specialised in mechanics, materials, electronics, automation, robotics, telecommunications, computers and information technology, in collaboration with health professionals.
